Sarasota, Sunshine and Self-Care
To me, sometimes self-care is as simple as a warm bath or a good book. Other times it means getting myself to the gym and into the pool or even just out the door for a walk. I’ve been lucky enough to spend some of my winter here in Florida with my dad and stepmom and to enjoy the sunshine.
One of my favorite things to do while I’m down here is to go to the beautiful farmers market in downtown Sarasota. I took myself on a beautiful day date, from the farmers market, picking up one of my favorite organic whipped body creams that smells like marzipan and 2 beautiful pairs of gold earrings.
From there I took myself to the most incredible little french bakery C’est La Vie where I enjoyed the best almond milk cappucino I’ve ever had, a salad, crusty french bread and of course I had to treat myself to a salted caramel macaron.
I wandered streets I’d never been to before, exploring galleries and imported jewelry from Venice and I ended my day on my favorite beach in the world on Siesta Key - breathing the ocean air in deep and exhaling all of my worries.
Simple Self Care Tips 101:
Move your body. Even something as simple as a quick 5 minute yoga flow will change your mood.
Get outside. Even if it’s freezing! Fresh air is cathartic and so is sunshine.
Drink a glass of hot water with lemon. Besides the digestive benefits, the warmth of it will soothe your soul.
Treat yourself to a little something that brings you joy. A cafe au lait, a candle, nothing big; buying yourself flowers is always a good one.
